The Eastern Daily Press, Wednesday, March 1, 2000 reported that residents of Croxton and Brettenham are celebrating victory in a battle to keep their homes out of Thetford.
"The town council was thwarted in its bid to swallow up three roads in the parishes of Croxton and Brettenham by Breckland Council Cabinet members' refusal to back the boundary change.
"Villagers who live on Hill House Lane and Heathlands, Croxton and Arlington Way, Brettenham, fought a vigorous campaign against change, which would have boosted town council coffers to the tune of £7000 in council tax."
The page included a photograph of the village sign of Croxton village.
The paper reported that a similar "Hands off our community" campaign has been launched by villagers in Roydon - where Diss Mayor-elect Neville Brundell has proposed that the town boundary should be redrawn to include 300 Roydon properties.
