PANXWORTH is a parish and village 9 miles north-east from Norwich and 4¼ north from Brundall station, in the Southern division of the county, Walsham hundred, Blofield union, Norwich county court district, rural deanery of Blofield, archdeaconry of Norfolk and diocese of Norwich; for civil purposes it is annexed to Ranworth. For upwards of 200 years previous to 1847 there was no church in the parish: a ruined tower marked the spot where the old church had once stood: the tower has been repaired, and a nave added, affording sittings for 120 persons. The living is a rectory, consolidated with Woodbastwick, joint yearly value £350 with 31 acres of glebe and house, in the gift of Albermarle Cator esq. and held since 1848 by the Rev.
