SUFFIELD , Norfolk, is a parish 4½ miles from Aylsham has 46 houses, 237 souls and 1421 acres of land, all the property of Lord Suffield, who derives his title from this place. The ancient Hall was converted into a farmhouse by the late Lord Suffield, who built a school here. This has a small endowment for 16 poor children, left by a former Lady Suffield. The church is dedicated to St.Margaret. The rectory, valued in the King's book at 14 pounds, is in the gift of Lord Suffield, and is enjoyed by the Rev.Chas.Heath, who has 8 acres of glebe, and a yearly rent of 352 pounds, awarded in 1841, in lieu of tithes. In 1693 Thos.Bulwer left 100 pounds to the poor, which was laid out in 10 acres of land., now let for 12 pounds a year. The Rev.Thos.Symonds in 1682, left a like sum for the relief of 6 poor widows, and was laid out on 15 acres of land, now let for 15 pounds per annum.
