WOOD DALLING is a parish and village 7 miles west from Aylsham and 2½ from Corpusty station on the Eastern and Midlands railway, in the Northern division of the county, Eynsford hundred, Aylsham union, and county court district, rural deanery of Sparham, archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich. The church of St. Andrew is a large and well-built flint edifice of ancient date, in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, porch, and square tower containing 5 bells: the church has been restored. The reguister dates from the year 1653. The living is a vicarage, gross yearly vaye, from modus and land, £117, with residence, in the gift of Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and held since 1870 by the Rev. Edmund Worlledge M.A. of Clare College, Cambridge. Here are Congregational and Primitive Methodist chapels. Bulwer's charity, of £6 10s. yearly, was left to be distributed in monthly sums to such of the poor "as shall be most in want, and most regular in their attendance upon God and His Ordinance." Col. W. E. G. Lytton Bulmer of, Heydon Hall, is lord of the manor and chief landowner. The soil is sand and loam; subsoil, clay and gravel. The area is 2,444 acres; rateable value, £3,359; the population in 1881 was 484.
