JAMES BARBER of Felbrigg
FIRST I give and devise to my kinsman William Burroughs of Saint Michael in Suffolk the son of my Brother John Burroughs and to the Heirs Execrs. Admrs. & assigns of the sd. William All my Messuages Lands and Tenemts. in Thorpe Haddiscoe Thurlton & Norton in the sd. County of Norfolk or in any other Town Parish or Place be the same Freehold Copyhold or Leasehold with their Appurtenances Charged & chargeable nevertheless with the paymt. of the Yearly Sum of twenty six pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to Sarah my loving Wife or her assigns during the term of her Natural Life in case she shall so long continue my Widow and not marry again The same to be paid by four equal quarterly payments at Michaelmas Christmas Lady & Midsummer Days in every Year The first payment thereof to be made on the first of those Days which shall happen after my Death And in case Default is made in paymt. thereof or of any Part thereof at the Days aforesd. or within twenty Days after them and so often as such Default shall happen It shall or may be lawful to and for my Said wife or her assigns to enter into and upon the sd. Tenemt. and Premises or any part thereof and the same to hold and enjoy and the Rents and Profits thereof to receive and take until the sd. Yearly Sum and all Arrears thereof with all Charges occasioned by such Non paymt. & Entry shall be fully paid & satisfyed provided always And my Will is That if my said Wife shall marry again Then the sd. Yearly Sum from henceforth shall cease And in such case I give and bequeath unto her the Sum of three hundred Pounds of like money The same to be charged upon my said Messuages Lands & Tenements and to be paid to her or her assigns within six Calendar Months next after such her Marriage again And if Default shall be made in paymt.of the sd. Sum or any part thereof in manner aforesd. Then it shall & may be lawful to and for my sd. Wife or her assigns to enter into and upon the sd. Tenemts. and premises or any part thereof and the same to hold and enjoy and the Rents and profits and all Charges occasioned by such Non Paymt. & Entry shall be fully paid & satisfied.
ITEM I give and bequeath to my kinsman John Burroughs son of my said Brother my Horse & my Mare, my two Cows and all my Carts and Implements of Husbandry.
ITEM I give and bequeath to my said Wife the further Sum of Twenty Pounds of like Money to be paid to her within one Month after my Death Also all my Household Linen and my best Bed with the Bedding and Furniture thereto belonging.
ITEM I give all my wearing Apparel to be equally divided between my sd. Brother & his two Sons William and John And I give further to my sd. kinsman John Burroughs my Watch Silver Clasp & Buttons.
ITEM I give to my kinswoman Elizabeth Burroughs the Daughter of my sd. brother the sum of twenty pounds of like Money and to my kinswoman Sarah Burroughs another of his Daughters the sum of ten pounds of like money and to my kinsmen James Burroughs and Robert Burroughs the sum of ten pounds apiece of like money The said last mentioned Legacie to be paid within twelve months after my Decease Also I nominate my said wife and my said Brother John Burroughs to be the Executors of this my Will and I do give and bequeath unto my said wife All the rest and residue of my Estate whatsoever.
IN WITNESS whereof I the said James Barber have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Day and Year first above written.
