The Will of Joane DAWSON
of Runton, Norfolk - 1598/9

In the name of God Amen The fourthe daye of Januarye and in the xxxixth yeare of our Sovreigne Ladye Elizabethe of Ingland France and Ireland ........

I Johane Dawson of Runton in the Countye of Norffe ...... being of an whole mynde & pfect remembrance (thanks be given to God) Ordayne and make this my psent Testament and last will, in manner and forme followinge (that is to saye)

First and before all thinges I comitt my Soule to Allmightie God my maker, and to Jesus Christ my rdeemer, and my bodye to be buryed in the church yard of Runton aforesaide, or else where it shall please God

Itm I give to the Reparacons of the Church in Runton aforesaide xiidd

Itm I give to the poore in Runton iid? to be given to them at my buryall daye or when myne Executor shall think meete

Itm I give to Johane Hillington? my daughter one Bushell of barlye, my Freeze gowne & my blacke petticoate?

Itm I give to every one of my Neisses and Nephewes & godchildren, to every one of them iiid.
The residue of all my goodes chattell and houshold stuffe not geven and bequeath I geve them to James Dawson my sonne, Conditionallie that that he the saide James Dawson shall kepe me dureinge my lyfe naturall

And I make him my Sole Executor, he to receive my debtes, And to paye my debtes and to bringe me honestlie to the Earthe

In wittnes whereof I the saide Johane to this my Last will and Testament I doe hereunto sett my hande & Seale the daye & yeare above written
