The Will of John Dawnce
of Cromer, Norfolk - 1527/8

In the name of God Amen the xxth daye of the moneth of Januarye in the yere of our lorde god as CCCCC...... and in the yere of the reiyne of Henry the viii by the grace of god of England France and Irelande kinge defender of the fayth and upon the ......th of the churche of Englande and Irelande supreme head the .......... I John Dawnce of Cromer maryner being holl of mynd and good remembring thankes be god never theles Secke in body orden and make this my present testament contenynge my last wyll on this wise as hereafter followess

ffirst I give and comende my soule to almightie god my maker to our blissed lady the vyrgyn his mother and to be assocyate in all the holy compainge of Jesus and my Body to be buried in the churche yarde of Cromer forsaid orells where as it shall best please god ..the whise High Altar? of Cromer forsaid I bequeathe for my tithes and oblacons forgoten xjd

Moreover I will that Johan my wief shall have after my decease all that my cotage in Cromer to give and to sell she paying my debts and fulfilling this my last will

The residue of all my goods unbequethed my debts and legacyes paid I putt them to the true

Discrecon of the saide Johan my wief whom I orden and make my faythfull executrix of this my testament and last wyll and I make John Bysil thelder my supervisor of the same and I bequethe to him for his labor xxd
