The 10th day of May in the 44th yeere of ye reigne of our souverigne lady Elizabeth ye It. [first] Lawrence Shorte the elder of Rydlington in the County of Norff. allthough sicke and weake in body yet God be thanked pfect [abbrev. for perfect] whole and sound of memory, all former wills and testamts. quite disannulled and utterly frustrated doe make and bynd and establishe this my last will and testamt. in number and forme as followeth.
FIRSTE I bequeath and bestow my sowle unto the hand of allmygtie god my creator and maker of whome and for whome I received it beleevinge assuredly to be saved through faith onlye in the meritts of the death and passion of my Savior Jesus Christe and my body I committ to the earth from whence yt came. Item I give and bequeathe unto the pore of Rydlington aforsaid xxs to be payd within one whole yeere nexte after the day of my buriall the wch [abbv for which] I will to be imployed and remayne as a stocke for ever and the use thereof to be distributed yeerlie amonge the pore the forme att the discretion of the minister and of the [obliterated by bleedthrough.] Item I give unto Patience (?) Albon my daughter xij l? to be payd at the Feast of all Stes. Anno domie 1605. Item I give unto Doratha Aydell/Rydell (?) my daughter xij l? to be payd atte the Feast of all Stes. Anno domie 1606. Item I give unto Thomas Shorte my sone xij l? to be payd att the Feaste aforsaid withshalle (?)Anno die 1607. Item I give unto Agnes Burye my daughter xs, to be paid within one whole yeere next after the day of my buriall, and so forth yearly and evrie yeere xs duringe the tyme of her naturell life. Item I give unto Wm. the sone of my daughter Agnes aforsaid iij l. to be paid when he cometh to the age of xxi yeeres.
Item I give unto Wm. Shorte, Agnes Shorte and Alce Shorte the sonne and daughters of Wm. Shorte deceased xxs a yeere to be paid when they shall come to the age of xxj yeeres. Item I give unto Robt Shorte, Alce Shorte Christabell Shorte and Cicsley Shorte the sonne and daughters of Thomas (?) Shorte
SHORTE [obliterated] xx l. to be paid at their severall ages of one and twentie yeeres. I give unto Robt Wyther and Catherinne Wyther the sonne and daughter of Aggss Wyther (deced.) xx s a yeere to be paid at there severall ages of xxj yeeres. Item I give unto Thomas Woolston xxx s to be paid within one whole yeere nexte after the day of my buriall. Item I give unto Christabell and John [next line under bleedthrough so only a few words visible] Woolston ---- Woolston Dorotha Woolston Alce Woolston my daughter xx s to be paid at there sevrall ages of xxj yeeres. Item I give unto Maryan---? Cooke of ----ensby? and Wm. Cooke her sonne x s a yeere to be paid within one half yeere after the daye of my buriall. Item I give unto Agnes Shorte and John Shorte the sonne and daughter of John Shorte of Rydlington a [too faint] and iij s and iiij s a yeere to be paid at their severall ages of xxj yeeres.---The rest of all my goodes and c--att--lls [presume chattels] and other implemts. of houshold not given nor bequeathed I will and bequeath them unto Elizabeth my wiff whom I doe make and and (sic) bynd a lone extrixe of this my last will and testamt. And Wm. Oliver, Clarke Supervisor desyringe him to be an ayde and assistant unto my said Exetrixe in the probate of this my will and p(er)formance of the same unto whom I doe give xx s wittnesse whereof I have putt hereto my hand the daye and yeere first above written in the p(r)esence of Myles Watte and S-end?
