FIRST I give and devise All and every my freehold and Charterhold Messuages Lands
and Tenements in Burgh next Aylsham aforesaid and in Tuttington Skeyton and Oxnead
in the said County unto and to the use of Henry Edward Soame of Aylsham in the said
County Yeoman and George Soame of the same place Merchant their heirs and assigns
UPON TRUST that they the said Henry Edward Soame and George Soame or the
survivor of them his heirs or assigns (all of whom are intended to be hereinafter
referred to under the ..er.... my said Trustees or Trustee) do and shall from time to time
during the life of Mary my daughter the Wife of John Thomas Curtis of the City of
Norwich Grocer by and out of the rents and profits of the said hereditaments and
premises receive and take one ........ annual sum of eighty pounds by equal half-yearly
payments the first of such payments to .......... ....... at the end of six calendar months
....... after my death and pay the same ........ my said daughter for her sole and .......... use
independently of her said present or any future husband and to ..... in such manner that
the same may not be under his control or subject or liable to his debts contracts or
engagements and for .......... the and for ...... the receipts of my said daughter shall from
time to time be good and ....... discharge And also do and shall as soon as conveniently
may be after the decease of my said daughter (in case she shall leave any issue ......
living) by sale or Mortgage of the aforesaid hereditaments and premises or any part or
parts thereof or by and out of the rents and profits of the said hereditaments levy and
excise the sum of Two Thousand Pounds with interest .............. at the rate of four
pounds per centum per annum from the day of the decease of my said daughter And
after paying the said assumed sum of Eighty Pounds and the said principal sum of Two
Thousand Pounds and interest on such .... .......... be or become ............ and in the
meantime subject ......... and also subject to the ....... and paying the ..... and ...........
.......... the execution of the aforesaid ......... (.......... ..... said Trustees or Trustees are and
is hereby empowered to excise by all or any of the ways and means aforesaid) I direct
that my said Trustees or Trustee shall stand seized of or entitled to the said freehold
Messuages lands Tenements and hereditaments or such parts thereof as shall not be sold
as aforesaid and .......... and instead prejudice to any ........ or Mortgage or Mortgages
executed under the aforesaid ....... In Trust for George Barber my son his heirs and
assigns for ever And I give and devise unto the said George Barber my son and his
heirs all and every my leasehold Messuages lands and Tenements in Burgh next
Aylsham Tuttington Skeyton and Oxnead aforesaid or elsewhere And as to and .........
the said sum of Two thousand pounds so directed to be raised after the decease of the
said Mary my daughter in case she shall leave any issue living at her death as aforesaid
I direct my said Trustees or Trustee to stand possessed thereof upon trust for all and
every the Child or Children then living or any Child or Children who may be then dead
of my said daughter who shall have attained or shall attain or afterwards attain the age
or ages of twenty one years respecting such Children and issue if ..... ....... ..... to take as
tenants in common but to ....... each Child or Issue of any deceased Child shall take ......
............ through all the ......... and of more than one equally ......... theirselves the share
or ......... shares only ....... his or her or their deceased parent would have taken if living
at the decease of my said daughter. AND I direct that the presumptive or exp...t.... share
or shares of such of the Children and Issue of my said daughter as shall be under the
age of twenty one at the time of her decease respectively shall be laid out and invested
by my said Trustees or Trustee in the Public ......... or on Government or ..... ......... with
liberty for the said Trustees or Trustee to ..... ..... vary the same as they or he shall think
fit AND the dividends interest or income of the share of any such Child or other issue
during his or her minority as aforesaid shall be paid to the said John Thomas Curtis my
son in law if living or if dead shall be retained by my said Trustees or Trustee to be
them or him applied for the maintenance education or benefit of such Child or other
issue respectively AND I further declare that the receipts of my said Trustees or Trustee
for all monies payable to them or him under the terms of this my Will shall effectively
discharge the person or persons paying the monies from all responsibility ........... in
respect of the appreciation thereof AND (subject to the payment of my funeral expenses
just debts and the charges of proving this my Will) I give and bequeath all my monies
and securities for money goods chattels effects and personal estate of any kind or sort
unto the said George my son for his own absolute use AND I appoint my said son
Executor of this my Will AND lastly I revoke all former Wills by me made.
IN WITNESS whereof I the said Stephen Barber have to the first two sheets of this my last Will and Testament contained in three sheets of paper set my hand and to this third and last sheet thereof set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and
in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereof.

This Will was proved at Norwich on the second day of May 1849 before the Revd. Matthew John Rackham Clerk ...... ... the behalf of the Worshipful Charles Evans ..... Official ........ of the Episcopal Consistl. Court of Norwich lawfully con.... and app... and admon of all and singular the Goods &c of the within named Stephen Barber the Testator deceased was on the twenty fourth day of the said Month of May duly granted to George Barber his Son the sole Executor.
