I, Thomas Dawson of Gorleston in the County of Suff. Mariner being of Sound & disposing & disposing mind & memory Blessed be God for the Same & Considering the Shortnes & imortainety of this Mortall Life Doe make & declare this my last Will & Testamt in manner & manner & forme following (that is to Say)
First & Principally I Comend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator & most mercifull ffather by whose Infinite mercy through the meritts satisfaction & Intercession of the ever Blessed Jesus I verily Believe to be Saved And after this Mortall Life ended my Body I Comitt to theEarth to be Buried in Decent manner According to the Discretion of my Executors in hopes of a Joyfull Resurrection to Life Eternall
Item I give will & devise to Thomas Dawson my Grandchild & Godson Son of Daniel Dawson my Son to the heires & also of the sd Thomas Dawson my Grandchild for ever Subject nevertheles to the ....vise & under the power & authority herein after menconed & Contained All those my three Sevrall Tenemts or dwelling houses wth the Edifices Buildings Yards Grounds Hereditamts & Appurtuces ............ Situate lying & Being in Gorleston aforesd & now or late in the Sevrall possessions or Occupations of Ellen Bennett Widowe John Browne Thomas Reynolds their or Some of their Assignees or Undertents
And also All that Close or Inclosure of Land (being Copyhold) wth the Appurtuces Containeing by Estimacon Six Acres or thereabts (be the same more or lesse) lying & being in Gorleston aforesd & now in the Occupacon of Susanna Symonds Wid wth sd Close or Inclosure of Land Together wth another Close or Inclosure of Land herein after men˜coned herin after given & devised unto Anne my daughter & her heires for ever I the sd Thomas Dawson late had & purchased to me & my heires for ever of Robert Hagon late of Wapping in the County of Middx. Mariner
And all my Estate right title Use Interest Revercon Remainder Equity possibility Clayme & demand not S..... of in or to the sd premises (both freehold & Copyhold) herein before given & devised to the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child
And all & evry the Easmts libties privileges wayes passages Comon & right of Comonage advantage emolum(?) to hereditam to to or wth the sd premisses evry or any part or parcell thereof now or late Used Occupied or enjoyed or accepted reputed or taken as pto press or Member therof
Provided nevertheless & my Mind & will is that if it shall happen that the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child shall depte this Life under the Age of One & twenty Years & wth out Issue of his Body Lawfully to be Begotten then living That then & in Such Cse the sd Devise to him of All & only the aforesd Three Tenemts or dwelling houses & the sd Close or Inclosure of land & all other the Appurtuces Shall be void
And then & in Such case I Give & devise All & Singular the sd Tenemts or dwelling houses & the sd Close or Inclosure of Land & all other the hereditamts & premisses wth their & evry of their Appurtuces herein before given & devised to him my sd Grand Child unto his ffather the above named Daniel Dawson my Son & the heires & also of him the Same Daniel for ever
But if the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child Shall live to Attaine his sd Age of twenty Yeares or leave any Issue of his Body lawfully to be begotten liveing at the time of his Decease Then my mind & will is that the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child & his heires shall have & Enjoy all & evry the Same premisses in ffee Simple & not infeetayle ffor my Intent & meaning is not to intayle the Same or any part there of (Any thing herin before menconed or Contained to the Contrary thereof in any wise not wth Standing)
Item I do make & Ordaine John Ditcham of Gorleston afore sd Mariner & Anne his Wife my loveing Daughter Exercs. of this my last Will & Testamt intirely Confideing in them that they will in all things faithfully & Carefully Execute & performe the same
Item I do hereby authorise & impower my sd Execrs & the Survivor of them & the Execrs or admrs of the Same Survivor from time to time from & after my Decease in the meane tie & untill he my sd grand Child Shall Attaine his sd Age of One & twenty Yeares (if he Shall So long live) to Demise & to farme(?) lett All & evry the afore sd Three Tenemts or dwelling houses & the sd Close or Inclosure of Land & all other the hereditamts & premisses herein before given & devised to him or any part or parts thereof either by Lease in Writeing for any Such reasonable forme or formes for Yeares(?) & under Such reasonable & Usuall Conents & Agreemts as they in their Discretions Shall think fitt Or either by Lease parcele from Year to Year Or otherwise for the best & most improved Rent & Rents they Shall be Offered or Can get for the Same & upon & under Such Usuall & reasonable Covents formes & Agreemts as they Shall think fitt & for the most benefitt & advantage of my sd Grand Child
And Shall dureing all that time (if my sd grand Child Shall so long live) for & on his Behalf & for the intents & purposes herein after menconed receive & take the Rents Issues & and profitts of all & evry the premisses & by & out of the Same Rents Issues & profitts Shall pay & discharge All Such Lords ffines & Arreares of Lords Rents & Stewards ffees & other incident Charges as Shall be due & payable for & upon the Admission of the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child after my decease to So much of the premisses herein before devised to him as be Copy hold & for Repaires Taxes Lords Rents Rates Assessmts or otherwise howsoever for Concerning or in Respect of the premisses or any part therof or in any wise relating to the Same And Shall apply dispose off & lay out So much of the then Residue thereof as they in their Discretions Shall think fitt & Convenient for & towards the Bringing up maintenance & Education of my sd grand Child & for & towds his Board Cloathes & other Necessaries for him and Otherwise or in any other manner for his Benefitt & advantage untill he Shall attaine his sd Age of One & twenty Yeares And the then Clear Overplus (if any there Shall be) Shall pay to my sd Grand Child when he Shall have Attained that Age (if he Shall so long live) But in Case he Shall happen to depte this Life under the sd Age of One & twenty Years Then my Mind & will is that the Same Shall go & be paid & I do hereby Give & Bequeath the Same to the Exorcs admrs or assrs of him the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child to & for their own ............ & Benefitt for ever
Item I give & Bequeath to the sd Thomas Dawson my Grand Child my Biggest Silver Tankard & my Great Bible to be delivered to him when he Shall Accomplish his sd Age of One & twenty Yeares & in the meantime my Mind & will is that the Same Silver Tankard & Bible shall be laid up kept & preserved for him by the sd Anne my daughter And in Case the sd Thomas my grand Child Shall happen to depte this Life under the Age of One & twenty Yeares Then my Mind & will is that the same Tankard & Bible shall be delivered to the sd Daniel Dawson his ffather his Exorcs & admrs to & for his & their own ....... Use & Benefitt forever
Item I give will & devise unto the sd Anne my Daughter wife of the above named John Ditcham & the Heires & assrs of her the Same Anne forever All those my three other Sevrall Tenemts or dwelling houses wth the Edifices Buildings Yards Grounds hereditamts & appurturces wt soever Situate lying & being in Gorleston aforesd & now in the Sevrall Possessions or occupacons of my Self Peter Ward & Margery Shreeve Wid And also All that Close or Inclosure of land (being Copyhold) wth the appurturces Containeing by Estimacon ffour Acres (be the Same more or lesse) herein before menconed lying & being in Gorleston aforesd & now also in the Occupacon of the above named Susanna Symonds
And my Revercon & Revercons Remainder & Remainders & all my Estate & right title use Interest Equity Possibility Clayme & demand wt soever of into or out of the premisses last menconed and hereby given & devised to the sd Anne my daughter And all & evry the Easmts libties priviledges wayes passages & comodities & advantages to the premisses last above menconed belonging or therewth or wth any part thereof now or late used Occupied or Enjoyed
Item I Give & Bequeath to the sd Daniel Dawson my Son the sd Anne my Daughter & their Sevrall & respective Exorcs & adrs forever All & singular my household stuffe & implemts of household plate Linnen Shipping ready moneys Goods Chattells Debts Duties Bonds Mortgages & all other the rest & residue of my personall Estate (not herein before otherwise given & Bequeathed) in wt soever the Same doth now Consist or is invested in or Shall or will Consist or be invested in at the time of my Decease & wheresoever the Same Shall or may then happen to be Equally divided Between them the Same Daniel & Anne & their Sevrall & respective Exors & admrs per to Share alike And lastly I do hereby revoke & annull All other Wills & Testamts by me at any time or times formerly made published & declared In Witness whereof unto this my last Will & Testamt Contained in three Sheets of Paper together annexed I the sd Thomas Dawson have set my hand & Seal & date the day & year first abovewritten.
