I, Thomas Dawson of Cromer alias Shipden in the County of Norf. Marryner being infirme of body but of sound mind and memory praised be God for it, doo make & ordayne this my last will & testamt in manner & forme following. And first of all I Committ & Commend my Imortal soul into ye hands of Almighty God who gave it trusting for mercy & pardon & forgiveness of all my sins ........ upon the ..... sufficient meritt of Jesus Christ the blessed saviour and Redeemer of poore lost and ........ sinners. And my body I comitt to ye Earth to be decently entred at ye discretion of my Executors and Executrix herein after named. As for the Estate wherewith the Lord hath blessed me I dispose of thereof as followeth.
Imprimis I give & bequeath unto Agnes my loveing wife All & singular my Messuages houses lands & tenements whatsoever with the Appurtenances situate lyeing & being in Cromer aforesd Runton & Beeston or else where in the sd County of Norfolk to hold to her & her assignes from and after my decease for & dureing ye Terme of her naturall life, she keeping & maintaining the said houses in good & Tenentable repaire during her said life. And also paying all ....... Lords Rents as shall growe due or payable for or out of the same. And from & after the decease of her my said wife, I give & bequeath the sd prmisses with ye Appurtenances as here after followeth.
And first I give and bequeath unto my son James Dawson his heires & assigns forever, All those my Messuages, Houses, Lands & Tenements in Runton aforesd in the use or occupation of Tobias Bugden and Elizabeth Plattin or their assigns.
Item I give and bequeath unto my sd son James Dawson All those Lands which I purchased of Wm. Steward lying in Cromer west ffield to him & his heires forever. But yet upon Condition following that he shall pay or cause to be paid well & truely out of the same by his heires and assigns to Anne Woodrow my daughter, the wife of Clement Woodrow her Executors Administrators or assignes the summe of tenn pounds of Law full English mony wtin two yeares after my said wifes decease, at or in the south porch of ye parish Church of Cromer aforesaid. But if default be made in payment of the said Tenn pounds or any pt therof as aforesd Then it shall be lawfull for the said Anne Woodrow her Executors Administrators Assignes from & after twenty dayes next after such default of payment to enter upon the said Lands and to hold & enjoy ye same with ye Rents issues & profitts thereof untill shee or they be fully contented and payd the sd tenn pounds with all such Costs, Damages & expenses as she or they shall be putt to about getting into possession Recovering, gaining or obtaining the same.
Item I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Dawson & his heirs & assigns forever All those my Messuages Houses Lands & tenemts in Runton & Beeston aforesd which were lately my Cousin Thomas Grymm’s.
Item I give & bequeath unto my said Son Thomas Dawson his heires & assignes forever, all my Lands lying in Cromer East ffield which I purchased of Several persons whether they be free or Copiehold.
Item I give unto my said son Thomas Dawson All those houses Lands and tenements which I purchased of Mr Robert Greene lying in Cromer aforesd ........... & his heirs, forever. But yet upon Condition following that hee or they Shall pay or cause to be well & truely paid out of the same to my son William Dawson his Executors Administrators or assigns the summe of ffifteen pounds of lawfull English mony within two years after my said wifes decease, at or in the south porch of the parish Church of Cromer aforesd. But if default be made in payment of the said ffifteene pounds or any part thereof as aforesd Then it shall be lawfull for the sd William Dawson his Executors, Administrators or Assignes from & after twenty dayes next after such default of payment to enter upon the sd houses, Lands and Tenements, and to hold & enjoy the same with the Rents, Issues thereof untill he or they be fully contented and paid the sd fifteen pounds with all such Costs, Damages & expenses as hee or they shall be put to about getting into possession recovering gaining or obtaining the same. Also I give & bequeath unto the said Thomas Dawson my son & to his heires & assigns forever, All the walls yards and appurtenances whatsoever belonging to those houses lately Consumed by fire lying in Cromer which came to me by my aforesaid wife.
Item I give & bequeath to my Son William Dawson his heires & assigns forever All my houses, Lands & tenements lying in ye Croft? called ..iglers Croft? which I purchased of Mr John Spilman & diverse others.
Item I give unto my sd son William Dawson half an acre of Land lyeing in Cromer west field which I purchased of Robert Bond.
Item I give unto my sd son William Dawson All ye walls yard & appurtenances whatsoever belonging to those lands lately consumed by fire which I purchased of Robert Bennett, called Barnards Yard, and other appurtenances. And alsoe all that house wherein I now dwell with the yard, and other appurtenances. And alsoe two pightles with a Barne thereunto belonging, which I purchased of Mr John Spilman. And alsoe three Acres of Land lying in the south Croft? which I purchased of John Proudfoot. And also four perches? of Land lying in the West ffield which I purchased of the said John Proudfoot, And alsoe one acre of Land lying in a pightle, called the Butt Pightle, which I purchased of Mrs Elizabeth Bodham. All situate lying & being in Cromer aforesd, to hold to him the sd Wm. Dawson and to his heires & assignes forever.
Item It is my will and pleasure that my Executors shall sell the Pightle called the Mill Pightle which I purchased of Mr Thomas Baxter & pay my debts with the said money. And Lastly I give & bequeath all & singular my goods Chattels, house hold stuffe and personal estate whatsoever unto the said Agnes my wife And my aforesd sons Thomas Dawson and Wm. Dawson whom I doe hereby make Executrix and Executors of this my last will & Testament requiring them & any? of them to see my Debts duly & ......... pd. And my body decently buried in Christian Buriall.
In Witness whereof I doe publish & declare this to be my last will & testament contained in this sheet of paper whereunto I have set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written.
