WILL of THOMAS SHEARMAN,
miller, of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, dated 2nd December, 1704.
In the name of God Amen the second day off September one thousand seven hundred and four. I Thomas Shearman of Kings Lynn in the County of Norffolk Miller, beinge in reasonable health and off sound mind and perffect memory Blessed bee God ffor the same I do make tis my last Will and testament in manner ffollowing ffirst and beffore all other things commit my soul to the caree and mercy off Almighty God my creator trusting in his inffinit mearcy ffor pardon off all my sinns through the mearsity [?] off my redeemer and as ffor what estate God in mearcy hath bestowed byeonn me of disguage thereoff as ffolloweth ffirst I give and bequeath unto Thomas Shearman my sonn and my [....?] and tenanct only with a water mill and windmill thereunto belonginge situate and beinge in stow market in the County of Suffolke to him his heirs and assigney for such time as his heir [....?] or assigney payinge and or leasinge what the same is ingaged ffor by mortgage and crave my [......?] my executrix ffrom all bonds given ffor performance off [..........?] the sayd mortgage and ffrom all ffine and rent due to the Lord of the manor off whom [.....?] off the said [.....?] are houlden and iff my sayd sonn shall neglect soe to doe then my will and mind is thatt my executrix heareafter named shall have power to receive the rent and [.....?] of the sayd estate in order to pay and clear the interest money that shall be due thereupon until such time as a covenient chapman can be had to purchase the same and then it shall be lawfull ffor my executrix to sell and disuarge [discharge?} off the same for soe much money as she can gett ffor the same and out of the price[?] thereof she shall pay and release all debts and incumbrances that shall bee due over the sayd estate and what ever there shall remain shall bee set[?] out at interest ffor the use of my sayd sonn according to the judgement and discretion of my executrix and the superadvisor of this my will Item my will and mind is that my lovinge wife Elizabeth Shearman shall have the some of ffour pounds of lawful money of England payd unto her by my executrix her being executrix and admnistrator or assigney every halfe year during the tearme of her natural life of my sayd wife the ffirst ffour pounds to bee payd within six months after my death and soe ffour pounds every halfe year during the natural life of my sayd wife and iff default of payment shall bee made by the [....?] of tenn days after the same shall bee due then my will and mind is that my said wife shall have liberty to enter into on lyon eitheer or boath of my wind mills with all things theretoo belonginge situate and being in Kings Lynn in the County of Norffolk and to take the rent and [......?] of the same till all such moneys up shall be due to her shall be payd without [....?] and having [....?] the same provided my sayd wife shall nott require any other material things outt of any of of my estate real or personal and I doo hearby aquitt and [....?] Kathrin Tinwel[?} and Ann Chapman the two daughters off my sayd wife off and from all demands whatsover whether ffor meat drink and [......?] or other matters that shall bee demanded of them or due for them with the time of my death Item I give unto my ffour daughters by my first wife and to my sonn Thomas Shearman tenn shillings a year to buy each of them a mourning ring to wear in remembrance of me with this motto engraved Prepare to follow Jesus Item I give James my other[?] sonn in law the some of tenn pounds desiring him to aid and assist my executrix in the seeing of this my will duely performed Item I give and bequeath unto all my grandchildren that shall be living at the time of my death the some of five pounds a year to be given them by my executrix when they shall obtain their several ages of twnty one years each and I do give unto my sonn in law John Joseph the some of tenn pounds and I do make the aforesayd Danell Offord and John Joseph the superadvisors of this my will [.....?] and earnestly [.....?] them to aid advise and asist my executrix of this my will in selling and disposing of such things as shall be [.....?] to be [....?] and in calling in all my debts Item all the rest residue and remains off my goods and chattill debts and [....?] whatsoever nott before in this my will disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto Susan Shearman my daughter and I doe nominate and appoint my said daughter Susan Shearman sole and whole executrix of this my last[?] will and testament she paying my debts and [.....?] and funerall [.....?] and [....?] this my will and I doe desire her to bee very kind to her sister Ann Kniye and to give her twent pounds iff she & Ann [....?] soe much of what is light to her [............?] make voyd all other and fformer wills by me heartofore made and order this to bee my just will in writting whereof I have heareto sett my hand and sseale the day and [....?] ffirst above written
